What is everyones prefered method of recording?

I only ask as I would like to get ideas. I'm a novice and rigth now I lay down the drums using reason's drum machine, then put guitars down the have the drummer play over what's there and then have vocals last. All guitars are DI into my VF80. I know this is a pretty basic way of doing things which is why I would like to hear the way everyone else does it.

What is your preferred method of having sex? Right now, I like to get with my girlfriend, we take off all of our clothes, and then get busy....How does everyone else do it?

I don't mean to be a dick, but you're asking an incredibly vague question. It's very common to record tracks from the rhythm section up. First drums, then bass, then guitars, then vocals....but there are no rules. Do whatever is easiest. Usually I find it easier to record drums first for the simple fact that it's easier for a drummer to set a tempo than to follow it....If you find something that works, great....if not, tryr again. I've recorded a song entirely without drums, and just added them when my drummer was finally available. It took him about 30 takes, but we finally got it.....
