So, to sum up, a "broken sound" is a distorted sound. In terms of describe a sound, it's not like words like "woody, smooth, puffy", etc that you can find a certain sound to match the adjectives. Am I a little close to the truth?
all right then ............. I stand corrected.I love the black eyed peas their sound is so broken.
I have heard the term in context of things that are overused. I had a chess player call me on my predictable opening being 'broken' before. I guess that could apply to something like an 808 clap sound in old dance music or a gated reverb snare on 80s rock, or hugely chorused 'clean' guitar settings for ballads? Probably just means any sound that needs to be fixed because it doesn't work for what it was intended to accomplish.
all right then ............. I stand corrected.

Not as far fetched as it sounds. There's a great song by a guy called Larry Norman about a relationship in the death throes called "Baroquen spirits". It's a nice play on words.Maybe someone was playing some classical and said "It sounds like Baroque".
Or not.![]()
