I'm borrowing a drumset from my friend (well renting them from him, which I think is dumb) and it's time for new heads. What drum heads to you recommend? Please include a link if possible.

Thanks a lot!

Thats like asking a guitar player whats the best strings. Its really not best but what bests suits you, what response and feel. I like using Attack heads, Remo's and some Evans.
Go to www.musiciansfriend.com
Go to drums>Heads> and search around.
If anything, budget minded I would go with Remo

what kind of sound are you looking to get out of the drums? this will help determine what kind of heads you should be looking at....

I record a lot of different styles of music and have to use one set for it, so I try to use the most versatile and durable head possible. Remo Pinstripes seem to work well (or at least OK) on just about any kind of music.

Unless you are looking for a very open sound (like a jazz bebop sound) a 2-ply head may be the best way to go. It provides a more controlled sound.

The Remo Pinstripe is probably the most used drum head around. The Evans G2 are also very good heads.

If you need a little extra damping, Moongel is a very user friendly product to put on heads.
