i have a digi 001 and i was wondering ....what is the footswitch for? can you use it to record sustain with midi?

You can connect a footswitch to the Digi 001
that can be used for control of QuickPunch audio
punch-in and punch-out, and for MIDI
punch-in and punch-out recording features. Both
continuous on/continuous off and instantaneous
on/off pedals with a 1/4" TRS connector are supported.
