Are they Harveys only compressors though?

No. As bad as the RNC can be on bass guitar I wouldn't want it to be my only comp either (I don't own one but I've used two plenty in the past). We never could avoid the distortion and find a setting we liked at the same time.

16 channels of the same compressor is abit crazy...

I get the impression that he's mixing in the box (Waves Diamond bundle, no mixer). I think that's probably wise. It also means, though, that he could probably get by with *no* compressors. Or, maybe just one Distressor. For the price of 8 RNC's, you could get 1 Distressor with the Britmod, and still have a bit of cash left over.

What's your demo real sound like?

That's the only thing that really matters.

I had planned on buying a Neve Portico, as I love the way a never sounds, and I'll take everyone's advice, and come back in a day or so, and show a different list, after I talk with my partner, and we'll see what's up.

Thanks for the suggestions.

did you get a total on the amount of money???!!!!!????!!!!!

I own some of this already, and have sold a good amount of equipment, so I have about $40,000 to work with on my part.

Here is my feel...but I have to take into consideration my partners thoughts too.

RME Fireface 800

Converter/Clock:
Apogee Rosetta 800 192
Big Ben

Monitors:
Dynaudio Air 25

Rack Gear:
RNC (2)
Symetrix 525 Compressor
TC Helicon VoiceOne
Kurzweil Rumor
Lexicon MPX1
Presonus Central Station

Pre-Amps:
Focusrite Liquid Channel
Avalon 737SP
Avalon U5
Martin Sound MSS-10
Groove Tubes Vipre

Mics:
Blue Bluebird
AT 4050 (2)
Shure KSM 44
Soundelux iFET7
Soundelux U195
ADK TC
Shure SM7B
AKG C 414 B-XL II (2)
AEA R84 (2)
Royer 121
Audix DP3
Sennheiser MD 421 (3)
Shure SM 57 (4)
Shure SM58 (2)

I should add...

This is what I already own.

RME Fireface
Apogee Rosetta 800 192
Big Ben

Bluebird, ADK TC
Soundelux U195
AT 4050
Soundelux iFET7

RNC (2)

And then I own all pre-amps, but the U5

So I'm only buying the rest of the list.

Granted I own MORE than that, but thats what I own, on the FINAL list to keep/buy.

Your list is getting there, but if you've got $40,000 to spend I think you can go more high end on the compressors and an outboard reverb/fx box.

Also, I realize that everybody works differently, but I personally would want a mixing board. Or maybe a control surface for your software, something with some faders and knobs to make the work go a little easier.

Also, the mic list is maybe more extensive than it need be, at least to start with. Mics are something that you might want to buy "as you go" as opposed to trying to cover all the bases from the beginning. Buying mics as you need them is a good way to build a collection.

Since you will be mixing in the box, you might want to budget for some more plugins or a UAD-1 or TC Powercore.
