What do you think on this one/

I get nervous when recorder's come with a head demagnetizer. I always worry that the previous owner might not have known exactly how to use it.

Other than that, that's awesome. Fall River isn't far from me, if I'd been in the market for a 424...

I saw that!!! I was very tempted. I'm super impressed with this model, and if it's actually as listed, that's a great deal! Heck, the demag alone could fetch upwards of $30.00 on a good day. Plus, the demag has a plastic tip on it to protect the head.

The 424 mkII is a great 4 track that I feel from personal experience is on par sound quality wise with the wonderful 246 model (though I feel the 246's preamps are ever so slightly quieter when pushed hard). In fact, I would be perfectly content with either one given the choice. I'm currently in the middle of a 424 mkII production in fact. Cassette 4 tracks ROCK! But you all know this:D
 
I figured for the price the stuff that comes with it will make it worth while.
As far as the demage unit heck how many reel to reels have had countless number of people near them with demag units.
It just looked so clean for its age and with all the original stuff in such great shape thought I would give it a shot.
But I am suppose to be getting rid of stuff:o But this item is so small and I needed a tascam foot switch anyway:D And my regular cassette deck shot craps so this may be a dual purpose machine.

I wish I had a reasonable explanation as to why it's not in the picture, but I don't. It's just one of those things that for whatever reason I decided to sell most of my old gear so that I could buy other stuff for my family that they we could all enjoy together. At the time I wasn't recording much and I'm sure some of you guys have been there before, it just seemed like it was time to move on or whatever. Plus, I had just started a new job, and blah blah blah. Not to mention, I had invested alot of money in that stuff, with the Jim Williams upgrades to the lxp units and the symetrix compressor (plus what I had originally paid for them), the microphones and the synths and I think I got caught up in GAS and not recording, which kind of made it all not worth it. Which in turn made me resent it was I was doing. So off it went. It was some cool stuff too.

Time passed and needless to say, the desire to record came back. So, I got some stuff off ebay for not much money at all (I think I paid around $300.00 for everything minus the rode nt-3 and alesis synth which I got new) and am happy with this setup. I'm actually pleasantly surprised at how nice this setup sounds, especially compared to the old setup that I had invested so much time, money and research in. Most of all, I'm glad I'm inspired by it to make music, which is the important thing. I think I had to check myself, and I'm a little older and wiser for it. I do miss the 246 though:rolleyes:
