what do you think about this being a daw

You might just have to ignore this reply because Im no mobo expert, but I've never heard of it. What is WDM anyway?
Seems to be selling it awful cheap for a board, CPU, case and all.
Hell I paid 112.00 just for my ASUS mobo.
Maybe someone here know's something about this mobo, but I feel a little wierd about it.
Looks pretty though !!!

i know it seems real cheap, but sh!t if the price stays that low i'm just gonna order it. the chip by it self cost over $100, but i was looking over ebay at some other auctions i had athlonXP 1700 chips went for $28-50 each... thats crazy...i don't know what up with the price but i'ma take advantage of it. i just want to be sure the motherboard is alright...if not i'll by a abit or something like it with a amd 761 chipset

Just a suggestion:
Might want to check your software and hardware website's and see if this board has been tested with each. Thats what I looked into prior to getting my ASUS. Or you might find a link to this boards testing with DAW applications.
I wish someone else would reply, cuz Im itching to know.

Do a search on sis735 (that's the chipset used in that mobo).
A few people on this BBS are using it already, Rwhite had a major issue with it...

The major thing I would be concerned with and definitely would check on is the power supply. All 300w supplies are not the same under the skin. You might email the seller and ask for the make and model of the power supply and check it against thist list here

I found out the hard way about using an underrated power supply and will not repeat the same mistake in the future.I just finished building a system with the same mobo with an athlon 1600xp processor and so far it is as smooth as glass. The only problems so far is the onboard audio didn't work with win xp pro(big deal) and the driver and software bundle cd that came with mine won't work with xp(again,no big deal).Otherwise,I am very pleased so far, although it is still early in the game.

Good luck!

I use the ECS K7S5A. Its a great board. I wasn't around when RWhite was having his problems unfortunately, cause from what he describes he didn't have enough power for this board. I'll not lie: IT IS A HOG when it comes to power. (See topic in list: How much power do the Athlon XP's need)

with this board it is the +3.3V and +5V rails that are crutial on the power supply. There are a few 300watt supplies that they say have high enough outputs on these two rails, but I have yet to see one.

Looks like you've found yourself a pretty good deal... although if you buy you're gonna need to up the power supply to at least 350watts... 400 would be better

P.S This board isn't expensive to buy brand new... can be picked up for $53 over the net.

power isn't a problem, i wasn't gonna use that power supply, i have a 430watt power supply over here now... my daw is just so unstable, and i want one pc for music one for graphics and dsl stuff like that...

i don't need a new pc right now, i think i'm just gonna order a nice motherboard and a athlon XP1800 or 2000+ if i can get a good price, though that hole pc would be cheaper... i'll see how the auction goes...

I am just finishing building a system with the ECS K75SA board. I have a 300 watt power supply. Why is it crucial to have a 350 watt oor higher and what kinds of problems will it cause with my system if I don't. Is it an issue of stability or an issue of damaging my hardware? I don't know a great deal about the power supply side of things.

i think thats the board i'm gonna get with a xp1900+
http://www.ecsusa.com/K7S5A.cfm

i have a 430watt ps soi shouldn't have any problems. i just need the system to be stable. my system now blue screens every now and then and i can't have that happen in the middle of a session.

What OS do you run? i'm gonna build this daw with 2000Pro...or XPPro b/c it was so fast and i had a latency of 2ms...

hello again...

here this site better explains power supplies for the ECS K7S5A and how to determine what type would be appropriate and how to determine if the one you already have is appropriate.

P.S. If you need help understanding the rails and figuring out your supplies TCO (you will know what that is when you read the FAQ) just let me know.
