I have a thing with making the gear pay for itself...sure you have to do somebody free to get in with a group of people...once you get some good stuff out there...they look for you.

I have gotten a few of them that have a nephew with a computer and a program...but they have heard my work and want me to do what I did for thier friend.

I sort of like just recording. It's the only thing that combines all of my skill sets. I made noise in the Army Band. I saved the world from Y2K bugs. So the tech side is covered, and I know how to be covert and deal with less than ideal conditions. And I'm a musician too, so I'm not just some guy with a toy. Although that may be how I view myself at times. But then again I'd have to do all of that while riding a bicycle and playing trombone to truly utilize all of my skill sets.

Oddly enough one of my first requested recording sessions was at a coffee shop. I guess that's what they call bars now. Probably some sort of loop hole for the smoking ban stupidity that plagues this region. You can drink until your liver stops working, but we've got to intervene and save you from yourself before you hurt your lungs at a bar. Not that I smoke, but it'd be nice to have the option to do something other than drink while trying to sober up before going home.

I record my daughter and myself singing, playing guitar.

I also do voice-over work.

Mostly I make backing tracks w/ vst instruments to give my stringband guys an idea of how I want a song to sound. Hopefully then we all use it to practice soloing with. I know I do. :)

Then, several people have asked me to record their music and, for reasons I do not quite understand, I keep saying yes.

Sometimes I'll make long modal ambient tarnce recordings, but much as enjoy recording, I still try to keep my focus on playing wooden things.
