...happier than you.
When I hear aboot mics in the 150-300 range, all I ever hear aboat is the SP and Marshall mics.. but I was recommended this one by a trusted source, so I figured I'd throw it out here and see what you guys think.

Check it oat...

If anyone owns this mic, please let me know if you like it, or any other thoughts/comparisons you have on it. Thanks.

(P.S. I can get this for 150 (not 199 like MF shows) so should I go for it? Let me know.. also.. currently, the only Mic I have is an SM58... would this be a step up, or not worth spending the money..?)

Hope that's not too many questions all at once.

I wouldn't by one there, but I own a few Octavas. The 319 is one of my all time favorite vocal mics. It has a dark, round, fat sound without the hyped high end a lot of budget condensers have. Check out the Sound Room.

yeah... I wasn't gonna get one from MF... that's just the first online pic I found of it... I think I can get one for 100 bucks.

What track rat said- These are lovely mics, and seriously consider the MC012 on the other side of the page. However, quality control sucks at times. It's worth it to pay The Sound Room a few extra bucks to get a mic that works the first time-Richie

A friend has it and we tested it out a few weeks ago. It was really quite nice, certainly for the price. Even at $200, it's a good deal for the $$. Oktavas, depsite some QC issues, make some very good budget mics, as do their older brother Elation. But I 2nd the notion to buy from the Sound Room, where they'll make sure you're treated right.

Got a link for the sound room...?? I checked out thesoundroom.com and it's a home theatre website..

Please understand that I'm not trying to start a fight, here, but I've gotta ask.

Has anyone ever tried these mikes from MF, and if you have, what percentage of the ones you tried were subpar?

I've run searches here, and at RAP, and I found only one person who said they'd actually tried them.

Anybody?

Yeah, but you'd still have to pay shipping from them to you, from you to them and then them to you again. Thats alot of shipping. Plus, you don't know for sure if you have a sub-par one unless you have others to compare it to.

I've never tried them, but there was a whole lot of hupplah on the bbs last year about these. People recommended going to stores and trying out all the ones they had to find the best one...
