what do you guys think of the bx5 and bx8 monitors

I have the 2nd gen bx8a. The XLR ports on all of mine have shit the bed so I'm stuck with TRS instead. Not a big deal IMO.

I honestly wish I had gone with the Rokit 8 monitors like all my friends did because they seem to be built better.

I had BX5s for 5 years. I do not recommend them. They're OK I guess but I don't think they reach the lower frequencies. In terms of bass levels I was basically guessing. I got some Yamaha HS80s to replace them. My mixes improved drastically as a result.

I have the BX5 D2's and I would recommend them, like was said before they don't quite reach the lower frequencies, think they cut off at 50-something. But if you're not doing music like dance and music where the bass frequencies are very important then this might not be a big problem. I think you get a good smooth detailed sound from these, especially when they're turned up a little. These are the only i've owned myself but I have had experience with other more expensive monitors and I think they stand up well against them being the price they are. I hope i've helped somewhat
