Just looking for some feedback on my singer and how he sounds over the tracks I write.

Soundclick Music Page Link

Some people give me a thumbs up and some a thumbs down. I think the thumbs down is probably people that may enjoy the heavier style vocals over this style of music. Well, let me know what you think as far as the way he sounds and vocal ability. Thanks.

i think he sounds good. cant really judge it that well on my laptop, but he has his moments. what do you think about him?

Sounds good. Pretty heave tune. I like it alot. I'm in no position to judge singers because I ain't exactly Ian Gillan myself. Sounds fine to me.

Personally, fits the tunes very well. Music is pretty heavy, and the voice could be brought up a bit in the mix, but that is just my opinion. I'd like to hear it a bit more prominent myself. Nice tuneage.

I think he sounds good. I was just curious to see what others thought. I had the vocals up before, but they were too loud, I think they sound right now so I don't want to raise them up again, vocals seem to be the hardest thing to mix and have it sit well.

Think he has a great voice, I can hear a "crooning" quality in there somewhere.
I think hed be well advised to take lessons so he doesnt ruin his voice singing that type music and end up sounding like Tom Waits after eating a blenderful of gravel. He reminds me of Mark Lanegan a little as far as color and weight of the voice. He needs to avoid the high stuff though, I can tell hes really reaching.
Chris Cornell, Ian Gillian, ..two examples of guys who used their voices right and have beautiful instruments...Get voice lessons for the guy, to preserve what he has. Otherwise he runs the risk of a very premature voice loss.

I actually thought when he goes high he sounds like cornell somewhat. Voice lessons, I doubt he would go for that. What is wrong with singing this type of music?

I like his voice...good intonation...and obviously supporting well....my only thoughts were...this guy needs to warm up before he sings if he is going to do the yelling...gravelly kind of music.....and any sign of a sore throat he needs honey and lemon and chamomile tea. This guy unlike so many other metallers I've heard of late..actually has a voice...he needs to look after it.
I can't stress the do a warm up bit enough...even if it is humming a few scales.

When he is singing the harder stuff he is banging his vocal folds together to get the effect..the problem is he could cause callousing or nodules on the folds...so he needs to be careful. There are vocal coaches out there that can help him...without it sounding like some kinda gay singing lesson for kids thing.

Okay I'm going to give some real honest opinions and this is coming from someone who LOVES good singing with heavy metal music!

At EXACTLY 30 seconds into "Immortal Son" I absolutely love that vocal sound. It works really well. I would like to hear that approach taken with more of the vocals he's doing and I would like alot more of it. I actually don't think the aggressive vocals sound quite right.
I don't care too much for the tone of his vocals in the first song. They have a different tone or presence to them that I just don't think fits as well with the music (which is great by the way). Really cool rhythmic stuff on all of those tracks!
I also like the tone of the vocals on much of the last track, but I don't like the effect that the doubling does to alot of it. Maybe if the lower register voice was not so low, or was brought down in the mix. I think there is a similar doubled sound on the "Immortal Son" track but it seems to be much less obvious and I think it sounds alot better.
All in all I think it's great, I guess I'm just rambling about what I think would make it better.
Cool stuff man!

Yea, around that 30 second area on Immortal Son he was really on point with both vocal tracks. I think that the vocals are very diverse so there isn't really a consitancy there, except with the aggressive style. Each song seems to have a different style so if one of them stands out at you, it's almost as if you have to hold the other ones to that standard.

I listen to alot of heavy music, some much much much more heavy than what I play. I used to play death metal style stuff with all screaming and such. The singer is getting me to branch out, I even wrote a ballad style song, which I will post once completed 100%. Alot of the aggressive style vocals I listen to are very extreme, his style is more reserved, which is cool. We are trying to make it somewhere with these tunes, that is why I'm trying to write things a bit less heavy that more people could get into.

My sound may be changing a bit soon. I'm selling my Pod XT pro and my Bass Pod and getting Amplitube with the free 2.0 upgrade. Doing this for more flexibility with editting my sound. Also so I can buy a new dual core AMD chip.

i hear the deep purple in his voice on the singing part. thats a bright mix. my ears compressed it at the end.

Sounds like Zakk Wylde/Ozzy meets Stuck Mojo/Sevendust (early material). Almost has a corrosion of conformity thing going in places. Hes not terrible by any means but I think I would prefer to hear something different for these songs.
