My band is a kind of punk/indie/hardcore type thing and we are working on a new CD right now. The guy that's helping us with the recording put a sm57 on my guitarists cab (marshall jcm900 head) and ran a cable out of the head to a Line 6 POD XT and modeled a jcm800 running direct.

I'm a drummer so I don't really know too much about this but I thought it sounded pretty damn good, especially the palm muted parts - really thick. we are kinda looking for a thursday/strung out/poison the well type sound - lots of gain, pretty metal sound.

is there anything else any of you would do? I was just looking for a little more advice!

thanks!

YA!!!!!!!

Ask the guy to try a sort of 50's slap back echo on top of that!

Also try the 900 direct in to the POD using a country setting if there is one. Maybe a Tweed if its there. Then use that slight delay. Its awsome.
