People on the "John Sayers' Site" don't use cheapish materials.
How about this:
1.) Hire John to design something for you.
2.) Design something yourself. Draw it up in a nice cad program with multiple views, detailed dimensions, add a bill of materials, and post it here.
Then we can look it over, and let you know what we think.
that doesnt answer any questions... i just wanted to know, what kind of materials can be used for this? okay, forget about "cheapish"... i think i was actually referring to the SAE thing. so yeah, what kinds of materials can be used for that.
Your profile doesn't show your location, but sometimes you can find a limited range of hardwoods at local lumber yards - other times, you need to go to custom cabinet supply houses. For slot resonators, you'll often want pretty thick woods - one way to do this is to buy thin veneers and laminate them to standard 2x6 lumber, then rip the edge to get a square cut. Looks pretty nice without having to pay for solid hardwoods... Steve
