Hey, I saw all you guys using NoWhereRadio and it looked pretty good. I am putting up a new link to my song as the other will turn to a .txt file so I can get around the download problem for people at work . You can still download from the original link, but it will then have to be renamed to a .mp3 file. Anyway, here's the new link.

chrisharris reccomended listening to this, in the Restless Heart thread, and i think highly of chris's tastes, so here I am...

this isn't bad. i read some of the other comments while downloading, the mix isn't quite as tight as I was imagining. both the piano and the acoustic guitar seem a bit thin to me...

which kind of translates to the whole mix. esp. when the drum part is very sparse, i kind of feel like i don't have a lot to "stand on" here. next time around maybe focus on building a fuller bed of music to lay on. i am constantly fighting the same problem. thin arrangements work for a lot of styles and songs - but country typically isn't one of them.

i like the piano riff coming in at the end of the chorus, btw.

but, it's a good song, and i do like your voice. if you end up singing on the restless heart thing i'll be anxious to hear it.

There isn’t a lot of instrumentation in this as it really is just a songwriter demo. It’s really just piano, acoustic guitar, bas, drums. I do, however plan on adding some additional instrumentation in the future like a little elec guitar (once I figure out my new Pod that should be delivered today ), maybe some strings. As far as the thin sounds, on the guitar & keys, I could possibly blame that on using computer speakers as my monitors and my general lack of experience doing this as this is really my first serious mixing effort

Thanks. That was actually the first spark to this song. I was noodling around on my keyboard. Luckily enough I was able to pen some lyrics to fit it.

Thanks for the comments. They will give me more to think about when I get around to remixing & adding instruments.

You definantly have talent and are a good singer. Dont be so hard on yourself. The kind folks here will do that for ya eventually-lol... Your well on your way to becoming a good mixer. Overall it wasnt that bad.It just takes practice, and getting dogged. Then ya buy new gear and have to almost start over. Im not into country, but my wife is and Im sure I have to eventually do a country song for her(head hung low)
Keep coming back it works. Wait , sorry I thought I was at an AA meeting.

I have my next project im mind. I just put the finishing touches on this song in my mind yesterday (i've had it im my mind for 2 years now )

It's a very personal song about an Aunt of mine who died a couple of years ago. We shared a birtday and were fairly close. I don't know how good the song is, but it's just one of those that I had to write. Really had no choice as it just came and had to be written. I'm going to record it because my family will really like it...

Warning!! I am very slow at recording & mixing (no 1.5 challenge for me ) so it will be a litte while. I'm just excited to start getting back at this again after a 3 year lay off.
