Active or Passive i don't really care ...i'll just run the passive ones through the DMP3.

I'll be using a Delta 44 ....and i want a pair ...not just one.

Looking to spend max around $550 ....let me know.

....?

Samson 65as. 6.5 woofer active monitors..299 really good...I've been enjoying them for a about 4 months now. volume and midrange control knobs. xlr, 1/4 and digital inputs. the monitors themselves give a good full sound however there is also a 10 in subwoofer thats 199 i think, that you can add on. I'm getting that somewhere in the near future but i really dont think i need it when i get a good representation from the monitors. Styles I've recorded are rap, rap rock, pop rock and punk. connected to the Audiophile on my computer.

This came up on another thread...

If you're in the UK, try a decent amp and a set of Wharfedale Diamond 8.2's. Yes, I know full well that they're not "studio monitors" but I've had amazing results with them in the near field with a sub for flavor... Fine without the sub, also (when mastering, the sub's almost a given though).

Other than that, reasonable monitors in that range would include the Behringer "Truth" monitors, M-Audio Studiophile BX8's (My personal favorite in the "under $1000" range).

absense, the DMP3 is a preamp. It brings mic and instrument levels up to line level. It won't power speakers, so unless you have a power amp you need powered monitors. For $500, I thought the KRK V4's were sweet--might need a subwoofer, though, depending on the music.
