What about this mix? Advices?

I think this is a nice mix of an instrumental song I've recently recorded. I think it sounds cool but... maybe I've put too much bass on it... :confused:

Any advices/positive critics? Thaaanks a lot.

The mix sounds pretty good, although the drums are too low for my taste. Also some of the cymbal hits in the intro sound a little off. The playing is great. I would probably tone down the pitch effects on the lead guitar (or guitar synth?) in the beginning. Sounds a little crazy now. My favorite part is the transition to the 'mellower' section at 3 minutes. Nicely done.
 
Thanks for the reply. I'm gonna raise the levels of the drumkit. I was trying to give more presence to the guitar... it seems I ended masking the drum sound.

The pitch effect of the lead guitar is done by recording the same guitar twice. It seems it have too much delay&reverb on it... gonna fix it and post a new mix.
 
More click on the bass drum, more presence on the drumkit... and a better bass sound.

 
I am listening to the 007 version that you remixed. The guitars are really loud it seems. I think the bass is really mid range sounding. It almost sounds like a synth style bass. Other than that, it sounds pretty dang good and some good playing there...
 
I really like the bass sound but the presence in the mix was distracting the listeners of what really matters to me: the harmonized twin guitars and the solo section. Besides that, the volume of the bass was making some parts too "busy" for my taste. So I lowered the volume of that track and raise a little the drum section. Now the kick is sounding with that particular click&bite I like on pro records.

The drums overall in the slow parts sound really weak. The drum performance in these parts isn't as awesome as the guitar playing. But when it kicks in it sounds good. So, maybe just work on that intro. I still would like to hear more drums overall. The guitar playing is pretty good, great work. Fix those drums!

The cymbals seem really distracting and out of place to me too.
 
BTW - great website. I am a professional designer by trade and work in vector as much as possible. I hate raster images!!!!!!! And, I really hate designers that rely on Photoshop to do things that were clearly meant to be done in Illustrator!
 
blkdog7! It seems the two of us make a living of design. I enjoy working on my job. We do mostly web and multimedia but occasionally we have to make some print stuff too. The money I get for the job is inverted on music (cables, gear, software) I wanna be able to have my own cozy home studio and spend all my free time in it. That brings me to the subject that I need two lava lamps.

Well, on the topic again. I agree with you in the fact that the drumming is not the best in the slow parts... I'm not a drummer myself so this is my weak point, and I need to work on it. I'll be working on the drums tomorrow... would be great if you have some ideas you want to share.

PS: It seems you're a Mac lover too :P

Updates: I did a new drum intro and corrected the overall levels of the drum-kit (putting emphasis on the snare and kick drum)
