What about this condessor mic?

Nope, they are made in Bejing,I believe. That doesn't frost my cake,if it is good I'll use it.

Darn! Forgot the disclaimer! YMMV.

Yeah, no offense there Randy. After I hit submit it occurred to me that comment might ruffle some feathers. So here's what I meant:

Not to indict all such products, but there are a lot of cheaply made LD condensors made in China, many of which are direct cops of famous European manufacturers assembled with far inferior components.

The well-noted exceptions (V67, C1, etc.) are the result of companies like MXL and SP imposing their own quality control on the line before it reaches you. Otherwise, it's caveat emptor. Howzat?

What turns my stomach is the less honorable companies that don't perform such quality control but simply buy cheap mics and re-badge them, THEN market it to the home-reccers as "just as good as ______(fill in the German manufacturer)". The unsuspecting consumer may be charmed by the hyped top end he does not realize will grate on his nerves six months from now when the new wears off and he realizes what a noisy POS he has been using for vocals.

So yes, there are some good cheap mics, and I own several, for better and worse. No offense intended to anyone or any country.

"For a preamp check out the M-Audio Audio Buddy"

Does that unit have compression and equalization like the Joemeek? Just curious.

Kent, ain't no thing.I understand where you are coming from,I have been a little too sensitive lately as I've seen some pretty derogatory post about SP buyers and I have gotten a little too defensive. It is my opinion that a good product is a good product regardless of point of manufacture.I am a new Studio Projects owner and I am quite impressed so far,as for Marshall the only Marshall mic I own is the 2001p,so far it hasn't broke(I keep kinda hoping)but I would've hated to be QC on that model.I couldn't imagine having to listen to 2001ps all day, hope they are well paid!

Sound Diagnosis, the Audio Buddy is a two channel mic pre/direct box with no compressor or EQ.At $80 it is a steal for what it is.If you have a good mixer like the Mackie VLZ series than the Buddy probably wouldn't be a step up(more like a step sideways)but compared to the pres in most "all in one"recorders, cheap mixers,or cheap toob gear the Buddy performs very well.

Sounds like a good deal. I lucked out with a JOEMEEK VC3Q on a closeout for 100 bucks and really dig it. Thanks. :)

100 bucks is a very nice price. If I came across one for that I would jump on it too.

I came upon the "Great Guitar Center sale of the century" late, so I got the last demo model in the state of Florida! Finally caught a friggin' break! @:O) (Thanks to this message board, actually) It pays to look ô¿ô and surf, baby!

hi lads

Knew I could count on you guys to confirm my decision.

Decided not to go for it. I have just got a laptop and has left me high and dry. I would also prefer the Marshal v67. Not becasaus I know a lot about it, just becasue it has a good rep and was the FIRST one i looked at.

Anyway, thanks ever so much. Just did another song with the shure. I used the headphones again and man when I put it onto the stereo the vocals are really loud. frustrating but hey...thanks again.

Bye

Erland
