now i apologise if im just being an idiot and they are in fact,m exactly the same, just a different colour on the cone, but id hate to order them n find out they werent the pros! if they are different, which ones are the pros? the black cone one or the creamy coned one. thanks

Hey,
I just bought a pair from Deepwater and they look like the first picture you posted. I think I read somewhere that the ones with the yellow cones are an older model. Not 100% sure though.

thanks for your quick response.
in the wharfedale website, under the diamond pro section the cones are as in the 1st picture. but the normal diamond section has all speakers displayed with the yellow cones (second picture) suggesting that what they are advertising is the diamond, as opposed to the diamond pro, which are what i want. anyone have any other thoughts? is there any difference between the two monitors displayed? thanks again

steve

the ones with a yellow cone a hi-fi home stereo speakers, the black coned ones are designed for studio use.

ok so now ive established that there is a definate difference, i wasnt being stupid, i gotta find out whether they are advertising what is in the picture, the hifi ones... or what he says they are, the pro studio ones... thanks for your help guys

If they're active, they're the "Pro" version (shielded, active). If they're passive, the yellow are the original Diamonds (non-shielded) the black are the "Pro" (shielded). There is no active original Diamond.

i also ordered from deepwater...you want the ones with the black cone....and they are AWESOME!!!

i was planning on getting mine from deepwater again, but buying them from america (im a UK resident) means that there is no UK warranty, only a 5Year US warranty. if anything goes wrong with the speakers, not that i dont trust deepwaters products of course, means i have to spend lots of extra money to send them back... a lot of hassle it seems. i havnt decided whether to go down that route yet or stick to UK purchace! thanks for your bit of info Massive master, youve cleared things up alot 4me! cheers
Steve

By the time you add Tax, customs tax and any other postage you would have to shell out you'd be as well buying in the uk incase there is ever a fault.

You should be able to haggle them down to about £200 for the pair at Sound Control. Also keep a lookout at your local UK web dealers

DV247.com
turnkey.co.uk
....I forget off the top of my head...any good music mag like SOS is full of music gear websites all trying to undercut each oher.

I love mine, really improved my mixes 10 fold.

still loving my passives and Bryston :) and the yellow cone... well, It's not a babe magnet (my girlfriend could care less) but the guys go "wow, those must be good"

HAHAHA

i want a sub though, massive; it really doesn;t matter what sub I use? i got the cash now, but always want more stuff so a sub on the cheap would be great! Coudl you tell me (again :o ) what sub you'r using with them?

Look for a Velodyne VX-10... Awesome sub for cheap.

I *think* digital1234.com had them for around $150, which is an absolute steal.

Thanks! will check.

I'll let you know.

:)

edit; GODDAMNIT!!! Why is it that europeans are F*cked on a regular basis? Are we really that annoying? The site mentioned carries them for 129,- dollar, ofcourse usa. In germany, closest resale to me, it is 400 euro's...

...

ofcourse i emailed the american company.... shipping CAN't be that high...

@ guhlen

lass dir den sub als geschenk zuschicken. Der Versender muss seine private adresse nennen und eine glückwunschkarte beifügen.

Sonst kostet dich das mit zollgebühren und co. erheblich mehr. ;-)

@ Massive Master

Could you hear the new diamond 9 hifi series ?

Not yet - I'm hoping they'll send me out a pair to spin around with...

Well got a reply and ofcourse they wont ship to europe. only usa. Massive got an idea? or a substitute?

question-excuse...

Massive,
you refer'd to owning the B&W 602's on some post a long time ago.
Of course you ref. to the Wharfs.8.2.

I have someone close to me selling some 602's $400(retail $600)
but also am still looking at Wharfs $200..so damn cheap?

does the 602 justify the price?
is the 602 too much for a nearfield close monitor?

this for small bedroom 10x10type studio...
1.5ft from wall and standard 3' nearfield speakers,~36-39"(ear level)
with little studio desk.

Mass, does this sub work well with the wharfs pro 8.2? Would I need a seperate crossover too? Thanks!

Cat - I still have to give the edge to the B&W's.

Kid - The sub has a built-in crossover.

would be very nice to read your review of the new diamond 9.2´s

i want to hear them side by side with my active 8.2´s but have to wait until i have enough money to purchase them. But my ears are not so experienced like yours :) and my room isn´t treated well.
