Has anoyne listened them? Are they similar to the 8.2?

Are they good for a low-budget monitor sistem?

Are they better than the Esi - Near or Samson resolv 65a?

I think they're only available in a hi-fi version at the moment. Anyone heard otherwise?

Yes they are hifi

Yes they are only Hifi version. I've read in other threads that also the 8.2 hifi version are not bad for monitoring. The 9.2 version is the same model magnetically shielded.

In my opinion it' s preferibile a good Hi - Fi speaker (not micro o mini hifi systems.... just a good speaker with a good amp) than the cheap monitor as ESI or Samson for a Homerecording studio... NO?

The Frequency response for the samson Resolv 65a for example has a variation of +/- 3dB and for me, this variation is similar to a Hi-fi speaker than a monitor. The Esi has a small woofer and lack in bass i can't find the frequency response, but i think is similar to samson. The Wharfedale has a good Kevlar woofer 6.5" and are know for their detailed fidelity (I'm not a Wharfedale Dealer!!!).

So, in these therms, why not buy a good (for me is good, linear, and detailed) HIFI speaker than a monitor that lack in bass and has a noticeable variation (+/- 3dB) on his frequancy response?

Iìm Wrong?

Check out the SOS article on hi-fi versus montior speakers. It turns out the Wharfies didn't fare too well. Not bad really, but def not too good.

For a similar price you can pick up a used set of the B&Ws - that did review very well in the article - on Audiogon.com This place is an excellent stop for used hi-fi gear.

Thanks

Thanks to the SOS article i known the wharfedales. This article is a "must read" for all!!!!

And also this directory is great:

I agree that thay are not the best for mixes, but i think that this gear is better than some cheap so called "monitors". No?

p.s. If i find a good DM303 used pair i'll buy them! Sure, they are great.
