Hello

I have seen many good comments about these 3 choices.
But I need some help to decide on one
For the music I make the low responce is important because of the beats(electronic), but never forgetting otherl frequencies for guitars ect..

Rodrigo, I've also read many good reviews of all three of your choices. Personally, I use and like the BX5/sub system, and I can recommend it. (I'm referring to the older BX5, not the newer version BX5A, which I've never used.) The slightly bright BX5 integrates very well with the deep lows that a decent sub can provide.

The problem here, though, is that most folks here, like me, have not directly compared all of these choices. We usually know one of them well and speak from that viewpoint. Is the BX5/sub a better choice than the Wharfedale or BX8? I have no idea; I know only that the BX5/sub option works well for me. Hearing these choices yourself, if it's possible, would be the wisest thing to do. If not, you may have to follow your heart after reading all you can at this forum and through other online sources, including magazine reviews. Or order a couple of these options and keep the best.

Good luck,
J.

i think the 5" speaker will crossover better to the tweeter, technically, than an 8" or a 15" for example. (concept of 3-ways)

5", used with a sub, now you basically have a 3-way, and with a powered sub you just took a huge work load off the mid-range. very nice...work spread out well. I don't think 5" handle anything below ~180hz too well, your almost better cutting it off.

the wharf is in the "norm" of the 6" nearfields. cheap...i'd buy the Yorkville YSM1p, just less quality- out-of-box issues. probably 100hz at 6".
hell even the $1,000 DYN5A...people are adding a sub! to get that extra low-end.

the 8" speaker, probably best bet if you can't afford a sub and
BX8 for $230pair pretty nice amp......you could almost DIY the speakers for that money...swap a tweeter or a driver! pop in a DYNAUDIO or a Ribbon tweeter etc.... nice cabinets and power. that'd be fun. 8" can probably hit around 60-70hz standard cab.....but then because its so busy woofing, it can't maintain the clarity of the upper end , like 1.5K-2K.

of your 3 picks, i'd probably take the BX5 and powered sub. better dispersion of the work...
and seems everyone is surrendered to having a sub, no matter what you buy.

just my 4cents and a nickel.

Great answers guys

I think i might be going for the bx5 plus sub.
Ive donde a lor of reserach in monitors but Iam ignorant in subs, any advices in the price range Iam moving?(I mean, it is no reasonable to have a 300 bucks monitor and a 500 buck sub, you kow)

Ahh.. also, do you know something about the $400 range JBL monitors?

ok.

Now considering that the bx5 are almost near the wharfs price.
What would you recomend, wharfs + sub or bx5 + sub?

Also are the bx5a as godd as the old bx5?]

thanks

thanks

i second this question, i just got the bx5a's for christmas and they sound wonderful, but i wonder if theyre really that much better than the original bx5's. I'd like to hear someones opinion whose heard both. The whole kevlar speakers sounds like a bit of a gimmick to me but i admit they sound great. and i wonder if the bx5a's have any more bass than the original bx5's, because everyone says you really need a sub for the bx5's, but the bx5a's seem to have a fair amount of bass to me, at least for my purposes. if no one responds here, i shall begin a new thread.
