Yep, but few that don't make money off those they don't.

"It's sad that you guys are so skeptical. There are people who work to help bands be successful, you know..."

It's sad that you keep pitching your pathetic racket on these boards. Most of the folks here record for the sheer love of recording, not to become "successful" in the music business.

"So what do you do when you need label help?"

You hire a music business attorney, and you consult with your performing rights group. You do not call a hustler.

The bills have to be paid, Waldo. You don't see me telling you to give your music away, do you?

I'm the real deal. If you don't believe me, do a search on the Web, read my book, or come visit me during my conference, the Nashville New Music Conference (2NMC).

I don't have any problem with those who want to play and record music without making money or selling records. I think that's great. For those that do want to make money though, I'm here to help you.

David, I know who you are, I've seen you around for a very long time, and I've read about the lawsuits launched against you.

I'm sorry, but I'm not into taking your word for anything.

'The bills have to be paid', sure, but pay those bills with money you've earned for a job well done. Don't pay those bills with money taken from those whos dreams you've done nothing to further.

"I'm the real deal."

OK. I'll ask you the same question I asked Laskow. Credits? Who have you gotten deals for? He cited confidentiality. I expect you'll do the same.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain, Dorothy.

Lawsuits? It was just one.

This link has more info on that lawsuit for anybody that is interested.

Waldo, if you're going to say that I am not doing anything for musicians, I expect you to back it up.

And to back up that I do help musicians...

I just had 2500 daytime attendees and 400+ bands showcase at the Nashville New Music Conference. My book has helped thousands of people.

I didn't say you didn't do anything for artists. I said that I believe there is few people out there that help all the artists they profit from.

Meaning this, the majority of profit most make is from those they do nothing for.

Nothing against you David, I've just seen no-one but yourself post about your worth (only your non worth), anywhere I've been, and that is why I've stated that I will not take your word for it.

When I get some good word about you from an outside source, that opinion may change, and we'll talk, until then, sorry bud, opinion stands.

Ditto buddy.
Out of a thousand bands who sign to these scams there's two or three success stories. These stories are pushed to the front to lure more suckers in.
997 of those bands sucked but their money is as good as the rest

How about some of those credits. conferences and books!!! Anyone with enough ambition can make a conference or book or whatever. The real truth is that there is not that much room in the music business for all the people with amtitions to be there. Many of them lakc the talent to be sure. But even for some that have talent, frankly, that is not everything. There are other matters and issues. So, the truth is, though e veryone thorectically has a shot, this is also true about the lottery. Anyone of these companies such as Taxi etc. commit what might be considered fraud in hiding this fact and knowingly induce people to pay them based upon a premise that includes the obscuring of the real facts. Knowing is the essence of fraud. You cannot commit fraud if you truly believe in what you are doing. It is doubtful that the folks at TAxi or even the Hooper guy even care whether or not any one gets a deal since that is NOT what pays their bills.

As was pointed out, it is the many, many who get nothing that make up the bulk of thier income. I work my ass off providing services, real services for people, That is how I make a living. Should my music make some moey, great. It has in the past and probably will again in the future but I for one have no interest in the scam machine. It is old news and never seems to change or go away. There is no limit to the oppotunistic peopel that care about nobody but themselves.

I repeat:

"I'm the real deal."

OK. I'll ask you the same question I asked Laskow. Credits? Who have you gotten deals for? He cited confidentiality. I expect you'll do the same.

No reply?

Yes.. I am also interested in seeing who Mr. Hooper has gotten deals for.

Its all a pipe dream

This is all true first hand experences

I joined Taxi to try and find distribution or a deal for my band which is something they advertized in their mailers. After I joined and got my kit it said that only the person who joined could submit original material. As this was a band this was totaly useless. They did refund my money ....it took a while but it did happen.

David Hooper's place is a total wast of time. I joined and within 15 minutes tried to get a refund. I was told there was no way that was going to happen and when I posted my views on his site it was yanked. Everything on the site can be found easily for free as a matter of fact to prove it to David I sent him several links with tons of info. The only thing David ever said that I found was true was that " you only get out what you put in ". This is true just not on his site.

Tonos
Similar to Taxi except they work with MP3 and don't have a charge everytime you submit. Does it work....who knows. I made it to a compulation CD apparently that was going to label heads although I never got a copy or heard anything else about it. The networking with other songwiters is kinda cool but generally not a ton of information to help

CD Baby
You can get more information and advice from these folks and they don't charge you a dime. Good people

I thought they charged $35 an album and $5 an album sold? (No disagreement that they are good people, but they do charge)

W.

pipe dream

Yes my friend you are correct $35.00 admin fee and $4.00 per CD but then if you were dealing with a full fledge distributor you would easily be going through that much money and at least here you get some good free advise and support. No smoke and mirrors like Taxi , David Hooper and Tonos
CD Street is now starting to get the picture as well and has started to offer some support.
