Has anyone succesfully used a Western Digital drive in their vs880vX (or any vs series) ????

I was given a 4 gig WD AC3400-00LA.

I currently only have the stock 540mb drive installed and figure this is as cheap an upgrade as one could get.....potentially.

thanks

I have fitted a laptop-hd in my vs840ex, 2.1gb, though there's a limit on the 840 of 1gb. It would be very likely that the 880 uses some kind of limit.
I don't know the 880 that well, but for the 840 if you want to fit a pc based harddisk you need a powersupply. since the internal powersupply is 5v, enough for laptop harddisks. However pc harddisk use 12v.
But it could also very well be that the 840 is differently designed because of the zipdisk originally mounted in.
Maybe you should try to post the question in the vsplanet 880 forum. There's a lot of people who probably know better than me anyways.

I’m not sure what I have in my VS880EX at this time. I know it’s not the one that came with it, but so far, anything that fits, works, regardless of capacity. I’ve picked up drives at the flea market for $5 and they work perfectly, regardless of capacity or brand.

thanks guys.....

I'll give it a shot.

I have just a couple of tracks to dump to the computer and i'll try it.

I guess I can always put the old one back if I have to.
