Ok,
Here is a link to a song that I am going to remix. It was recorded on Adat a few years ago and once I get the Adat tapes ( If they still any d@mn good ) I will be remix this song for starters. I not sure what I will run up against until I listen to each track on the ADats, but if they are pretty clean and chain is a straight path, I will remix instead of retrack.

The performance could be better I know, but this was done a while ago.

Im looking for any sore thumbs that stick out in the track as far as how it was mixed. ie pans, Freq seperations, leveling, etc that I may not have got thus far.

I have no clue as to what type of processing was done to it, but I can hear it going on.

The song is number 4.

Friday Remix

Bump

Because I am remixing tomorrow night.

Thanks

There is this very strange tone to the whole track.... like you used a smiley-curve EQ on the whole mix.

As well - there is significant flanging in the high-end freqs -- bad mic placement? Bad MP3 encoding?? Overuse of effects??? One of these....

I didn't a whole lot of stereo image definition. The soundscape was such that you couldn't directionalize the individual elements.

Also sounds like you over-EQ'd the drums.... the cymbals are very harsh sounding.

Nice retro-sounding tune though... would be worth a remix!

Ever consider supplying the tracks for a little "MixFest" of our own here???
Would be interesting to hear different people's takes on it....!

Thanks Blue, I was waiting on you.
I will drop you a private message. I want to send you the clean raw mix without any of the processing they did. Thats the stuff I was looking for. I have no clue as to how they tracked it. But I did get a straight mixdown last night at practice.

Thanks

Malcolm

Oh, BTW Blue, I didnt mix it either.

I am going to Remix it though. All of the tracking and mixing was done before I started working with them.
