Yep, no vocals yet. Hopefully it's interesting enough. This one's called "Waving and Drowning".

I like the other one better!

Sorry couldn't resist, after the "It's going to eBay" thread of yours...... :D

Bet that's the first critique-before-the-song-is-even-posted critique.

LOL, nice one!! (and thanks for the hosting service!!)

And I'll put the other one up soon...that should really try some people's patience (over 7 minutes long) but with lots of gratuitous soloing!

Well, I'm listening on crappy earbuds, so I can't say much about the mix itself. As I would expect, everything is well played. Good chord progressions and nice leads. Your tunes have a nice build to them. There is one guitar sound that I don't really like - kind of an "auto-wah" effect - left guitar at 1:08 is the one.

OK, I'm listening a second time, so I must not be too bothered by the lack of vocals on a 6:30 song.

Oh, and if you ever need a guest vocalist, let me know. I can't do the metal screamer thing...well, you know what I sound like.

p.s. - thanks for the b-day wishes!

Thanks for the listen, Scrubs. We'll have to look into doing a collab again sometime...plus I've gotta hook up with Finster to hit "wacko shred fest 2005".

Cool stuff Purge. :)
I like the litte clean lick with the minor feel to it, very nice.
I didnt even mind the mega80'sverb snare.
Good playing dude.

Boy youve really got youre work cut out for you vocally though, lol  :D

Very cool song. It does need some vocals, but definitly doesn't suck without. Very cool chord progressions. Way cool.

Yeah, hopefully I'll just morph into Geoff Tate soon.

The drums are just a drum machine (Reason) and hopefully it's semi-passable.

Thanks for the listen!

I loved it! I can hear lyrics in my head already. It's a funny thing you mentioned Geoff Tate, because that was the voice I was hearing....

That's probably because parts of it are reminiscent of Eyes Of A Stranger. As for the song itself I like it. Long... could be shorter since it's repetitive but still good.

Hey, good catch. I figured it was because my friend gave me a DVD of Operation:Livecrime and I've been wearing it out!

I have that DVD and I love that album! Wow, the chick that sings with him on that one song (name escapes me right now - 12 too many beers!) has an awesome voice too. I think Geoff has one of the best voices in music. VERY distinctive.

Suite Sister Mary. Yeah, she's pretty damn good!

Geoff was labelled "The Purest Voice In Rock" awhile back. He's lost it a bit, I think, at least as far as the higher octaves go. But I would kill for his vocal chords....

Very true, very true. I didn't even think about it until after I heard those first two chords in the "chorus" after I recorded it. The chords are played in a different position, but damn...it's pretty friggin' close, isn't it? I've said before that DeGarmo is one of my biggest influences, but I sure didn't want to sound like a poor man's Queensryche.

Thanks for the listen.

It was Pamela...Pamela...fuck, hang on. I'll go grab it.

I'm going to download it and play around with it, if you don't mind. Nothing that I would ever post or lay claim to, but I want to try something with it, if it's OK with you Tom...

That's IT! Well, anybody who sings that high for that long will lose it eventually. Have you heard Steve Walsh lately? Nothing but rasp anymore. And he doesn't really sing anymore. He kinda yells and hurry's through the line anymore. Sad.
