weird phaze issue resolved

I just rented an ART Digital MPA-ran my mics thru it strait into my soundcard and my phaze / cancellation was corrected.
Previously I'd been using the Mackie 1202 pre's.
Whats the explanation -if any-for this?
Its not like ART is hi-end product...

How were you using your Mackie pres? How was the chain wired? If you were going into the mixer and out the mix bus, you probably had an Aux send routed to the output - that would cause this.

no I used the inserts on the Mackie-into my Fatman comp.-then directly into my sound card-so I gues that bypassed the Master or aux .

Were you returning the signal from your sound card back into the same channel line inputs on your Mackie? If so, unplug the cable to the Mackie line input while tracking. This will deffinately create a signal loop that has a slight delay which gives that phasey sound you hear. The other thing you can do is to return the signal to another channel on your board.
