Weird mic recommendations

OK, here's the deal: I'm looking for a good all-around mic, which I will probably use mainly on vocals and acoustic guitar, but may occasionally use for amps, air organ, xylophone, and other weird stuff. I know everyone recommends the SM57 and SM58, but I'm not the type to do the same thing as everyone else. So does anyone have a favorite mic that everyone else thinks you're strange for using that you can recommend? A bastard son microphone? A sleeper? The Hopefully something affordable and relatively easy to find, though I have a thing for vintage equipment. If no one can help, I guess I'll just have to be a sheep and get one of the Shures.
 
Out of the mics I own and have a lot of experience with, for me I could narrow it down to two that I think carry a the most bang for my buck.
Shure SM-57 (the Swiss Army knife of microphones and a bargin).
AT 4033 ( sounds good on vocals, acoustics and such, takes high SPL and can be had new for $300).
Of course, this is my humble opinion, YMMV.

oh.. another "I wanna be different just to be different".... *yawn*
 
if you wanna be different, DON'T do a "which mic to buy" post....
 
But a Marshall MXLv67 or Studio Projects C1 is what you are looking for....Ive heard vocals and acoustic done with both and quite nicely.....of course, mics for vocals is a personal thing as different voices work well with different mics......a nice pre helps.....
 
I KNEW it was only a matter of time before the C-1 was mentioned!
 
HOw bout a set of headphones. In my 1st band, we used a headphone set that the headgear had broken off of, for vocals. COULD BE PRETTY DARN COOL!
