Hey, growing up I never remember having a big screen television or a stereo. We were like the last one on the block to get everything including cable and caller id, and internet, etc. Now I am like ten years behind the times but I have officially purchased my very own MPC 2000xl and even though there's the 3000, 4000, and 1000 I am very excited. Don't laugh. It just came in the mail last week and I am still getting adjusted to the functions. I wanted to invest in the 4000 but it seemed like it would be more than I needed and difficult to use for a first time mpc user. I am in love with the feel of the pads. The expansion boards I purchased have yet to arrive because they are on backorder but Anyway I was wondering if anyone had any advice for a new mpc user like where to find SCI hardrives and cdroms, the best place to find samples, etc.

The MPC will be in the hip hop history book (if there ever is one) as one of the greatest, if not THE greatest tools ever created for hip hop beats.

From reading your post it gave me the impression that you think that the 3000 is newer than the 2000xl( which is logical) but the 2000 is indeed the newer model of the two.

If those sites don't answer you questions good enough just ask here and somebody should get ya right. The XL has a ton of features I don't even fuck with but if anybody asked i'd probably try and figure it out just to learn something.

You''ll maybe want the full 32MB memory even though you'll probably never have 32MB of samples in that bitch. I think they have the memory type on one of those websites and you can find the best price at PRICEWATCH.COM

As far as the SCSI thing is concerned a zip drive is all you'll really need. Least from what i've been doing... A 250MB drives save a shit load of beats and I think are actually faster at loading than the 100MB (at least the disks). You can save a gang of beats on just one zip. Its a ton of zip drives on EBAY for $20-$50. 100MB zip drive PLUS can hook up to your computers parallel port to allow you to archive the zips otherwise you need a SCSI port or USB zip drive for your compter. The CD-ROM drive was a pain in the ass but cool if you have well organized sample cds. Just don't see any need for a hard drive myself.

You can buy sound disks for your MPC but just holler back at me when you get it and i'll piece together a few kits to get you rolling.

Oh and if you bought a EB16 EFX board for your MPC then send it back and holler at me cuz I can save you something on that.

By the way, I did think that the 3000 came out afterwards, see why I didn't actually need to buy no 4000? Now that would explain why I can't really find any 3000's on sale in stores anymore just like off ebay. Cause I wanted one.
