waves rcl and L1 ultramaximizer - please help!

I have both - - i make music, mostly hip hop, using reason and acid. After I export my wav mix, i bring it into sound forge and use the rcl on the track. I set it to mastering opto fat, and usually increase the gain/limiter so the track gets louder without clipping. But now i'm reading that rcl is a compressor and not really something to boost up the volume of the track. Should I be using both RCL and L1 ultramaximizer? I want my tracks to be loud. RCL makes my tracks pretty loud, but would I get better results with the L1?Suggestions? good setting to use? Please help.

I'll use the RCL for days to get volume before I use the L1 or L2... Having the "L" at the end at -0.4dB or so just to avoid the occasional clip is a good thing though...

Although keep in mind that if you're overdoing anything, there's probably something lacking in your mix.
