Any Waves Gold users around here? Since it's on sale for a pretty tempting price this week, I'm seriously considering grabbing it. I mostly use freebie VST plugins for compression, limiting, EQ, etc. I have a feeling that it'd be a good investment for a hobbyist like myself, but I wanted to see if there are any Gold users around here that have any impressions about how it stacks up to the competition. Is the assortment of plugins included in Gold Native useful? Is the quality of the plugins appropriate for the price?

I like the waves plugs but their upgrade policy is a pain.
If you like sticking with a certain OS and DAW version then that's fine but, if not, rest assured your cover will run out a few weeks before you want to upgrade.

That's my only gripe though.
I have platinum and regularly use the eqs, reverbs, tune, H-comp, H-delay, and a few miscellaneous others.
I really should get to know the other comps. I've been meaning to for quite a while.

Cool, thanks Steen. I have the entry-level Melodyne and I just grabbed the entry-level Lexicon reverb plugin on sale yesterday. I'm lacking a good limiter, EQ, and compressor. I'm wondering if I can find those things individually for $200 or less, or if it'd be a better idea to just grab the Gold bundle and get quality instances of all of those and more, regardless of the overlap with my existing reverb and pitch correction.

Eh, if you think that's all you need IMO there are better options for those needs.

Still though, it's a great bundle. Especially if you don't have a convolution reverb. That itself IMO is worth it.

Yeah, the only convolution reverb I have is ReaVerb and a small pile of freebie impulse files. I'd be interested to see how a paid R&D team can make a convolution reverb sound.

I have a few more days to think it over, so any other input is welcome. It's painful because all of my studio gear is laying in a pile in the basement, waiting for my new studio room to be completed. The intangible nature of software downloads is particularly hard to stomach right now, especially since I can't even install or use them for another few weeks!
