Ah - But Samplitude has a demo!

They also do a Samp for rent deal, where you pay monthly for a license. I bought mine outright, but renting it is a good way for the cash challenged to get to use $1100.00 software for like a dollar a day.

Oh, dude... You haven't lived until you've tried V8... I'm not a big "I need tape emulation" type, but they nailed it. All the little things they did...

Oh, great....thanks a lot. I was trying to decide between new mic or new pre.

I had a feeling the analog suite was gonna get me. ;)

I chose Wavelab 4 over SF 7, which were the most current versions at the time. There has been a learning curve with WL and it can be bit frustrating at times as some of the key functions are different than Sonar. But it really is an excellent program for editing, mastering and preparing a list of songs for burning. The Audio Montage is great for for organizing and using individual effects for each song.
While trying the demos for SF and Wavelab, SF did seem to have an easier workflow. But I liked how WL handled the effects in real time, which was more important to me. And at the time Sony was in the process of purchasing Sonic Foundry. It was impossible to get a response from customer support. Even the people on the SF forum were frustrated and were wondering if Sony was going to discontinue SF. That alone scared me away. Steinberg support was very responsive and that inspired more confidence. But now it looks like SF is going full steam ahead. I may try a demo of SF 8 just to see how it works.
BTW, Samplitude looks interesting. The endorsement from John Scrip speaks volumes. It's more expensive than SF, though.
For what it's worth - Mr. Bob Katz has been quoted as saying that WL is a wonderful program. His opinion is not to be taken lightly! :)

I usually use Wavelab 4 for 99% of my work (I just like the workflow better, and the graphic analysis is so much better than my copy of SF6). It is an absolute bitch though to accidently delete a plugin from the Master Section (I still do it). I do use the Audio Montage and Master Section to set up, arrange, and process my masters, but CD Architect is still the best for final burning.

Anywho, to address Falken's comment on a Project starting automatically after burning a CD, there is a check box on the progress window that appears while burning, that allows you to this (And by default it is selected), so if you don't want to listen to the results shut it off. :D
