wave forms don't appear

in a long (25 min.) project...it sounds OK but very hard to edit when the visual wave forms are blank. I emptied the picture cache but still no better. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks.

When I encountered this problem way back when I was using HomeStudio8 I used to just save the file, exit then restart the application, then re-open the file; it used to take a while to re-draw, but eventually it did.

There's an entry you can change in the .ini file called "draw audio=0" or something like that. I assume this is not a new problem. You can change the 0 to 1. Or save a copy of the ini file somewhere else on your harddrive, and delete it from the cakewalk folder and restart. Cakewalk should write a new one at that time. If I'm wrong about that, you can drag your old one back in.
