Hi, all,

I just got n-Tracks Studio and have managed to record a song and even burn it onto a CD. Now what I'd like to do is put an mp3 of it on my website. But the file size of the mp3 created by n-tracks is too large - almost 8 meg. I'd like to get it down to say, 3.5 meg but I can't seem to do it within n-tracks. I resampled the wav file in Goldwave, but now I'm looking for a simple conversion program that will turn it into an mp3. And it can't be spyware. (I know, picky picky)

Thanks a million!

Jody

I personally don't use n-Tracks, however it sounds as though when you made the MP3 file you used 256 bits/s. The 'standard' and I use that loosley is 128 bits/s 44Htz.

Anyone, If I'm wrong, please correct me.

I use

CD ex 1.3. Simple, just select the wav you want converted, select the bitrate (the higher the, the better the quality the bigger the file) 128 is alright but 196 is perfect and a good size too. I got this program free, perhaps on the net. Try www.tucows.com and search for a wee mp3 converter program. N tracks probably lets you select the bit rate too though? I don`t know, thats what I do anyway.

There might be some more stuff here at this freeware/shareware site.

I use a little free program from CNET called "dBpowerAMP"
You can create a blade or lame mp3 and specify the bitrate so you can make the mp3 just about any size and quality you want. I've only used it for voice though so I dont know how well it will work for music. But it works great for my purposes, and it's fast.
