.wav files

Ok another silly question here. I have a Fostex MR16HD and as we all know it works with .wav files. My question is this, how do I get it do accept .wav files that are from a different source other than the recorder itself? In other words, if an mp3 file has been converted to a .wav my recorder won't accept it. I always thought a .wav was a .wav, apparently I'm wrong about that.

If anybody knows the answer to this I'd certainly appreciate it.

The first thing is to make sure that they are converted to 44.1Khz/16 bit.
If track based use WavManager and name the tracks tr01.wav, tr02.wav etc
If stereo .wav file (see p111 of Owners Manual) it can be done, with care, using the USB link.
