i traded my applause AE48 acoustic guitar which i bought for $135 for an almost new Fender CD-60 NAT with a brand new hardshell case. (he says he paid $350) and he is also going to give me $20 ....is this a good trade? i just found out that apparently that applause is worth alot more but i really dont think it is...it looks "pretty" but it actually sounds like crap...this fender isn't the best or anything but at least it is worth more...

well...is it a good trade?

At this level of guitar, the beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. If you like the new guitar better than your old, all is good, regardless of the price or brand on the guitar. They are close in price when purchased new, so consider yourself lucky for finding both guitars used and not paying new prices. And above all, enjoy your new guitar!!

From the few I've played, the ovation/applause style guitars are aimed at live performance and plugged into the PA system. Strummed acoustically, they didn't sound very good-so if its amplified acoustic they do okay.
Fender makes great solid body electrics-I've not heard any great reviews of their acoustic flat tops-though they will probably sound better acoustically than the Applause. Just my opinion-others may differ...

Mic up the Fender-it might be just what you are looking for.

i gotta be honest with ya'll the applause didnt sound good acoustically at all ...PA...didnt sound good either...the only way to make that guitar sound good was an acoustic guitar amp....and i wasnt about to buy one...i guess i only traded him because the fender is WORTH more..mainly because of the case too:D

i am planing to sell the guitar so i guess i was looking for the one that is worth more...

hopefully i will get a martin soon...thats my ultimate goal...:D
