OK, I'm not up to anything serious, but I need to record at least one track this week to maintain my pride. Anybody got a song that needs a certain je ne sais quoi? Guitar, bass, harmonica, harp, didgeridoo, sleigh bells . . . I've got all kinds of crazy crap around here . . . :o :o :o

Well, my acoustic guitar is not in great shape right now, but I could lay down a bass track, or something on electric guitar. Be warned, my playing is rather unconventional. For example, my favorite solo is Andy Summers on "Mother". I may be the only other person on the planet to like that song (other than Andy :o )

On acoustic tracks, like I said I have lots of various percussion instruments, and I enjoy polyphony.

Off the top of my head, my instrument list (my skill varies widely):

sleigh bells
cowbell
rainstick
cabasa
tambourine
bodhran
triangle
kalimba
maracas
bamboo flute (D or G)
tinwhistle (D)
harmonica (A blues)
uillean bagpipes
29 and 15 string harp
Gibson The Paul
Fender So-Cal
Peavey Extreme RAGE!
Epiphone Viola Bass, tuned as bass cello (C-G-D-A)
Alvarez steel string
piano (can't play at all :o )
Yamaha YPP-15 digital piano (think the first RUMBLE!)
Pearl Rhythm Traveler kit, the only cymbal I have right now is a Zildjian A Low China :o

I have a lute and a mandolin in need of major repair, the mandolin needs a new fretboard, and the lute is suffering from its earlier owner's attempt to turn it into a classical guitar . . . it needs a new nut, headstock repair, and refret :(

How about a bass part for this....The Electric Gumby...

I mess it up everytime I play it. True is doing some vocals, and Gorty is working on a lead. I am frustrated with it at this time myself.

Yep, no problem. Can I wait for the vocal? Oddly enough I like to respond to the vocal. If you need bass first, that's no problem too. Do you have a chart with the changes?

Yeah, you can wait for the vocal..no problem. No chart. I had the chords written out, let me see if True has it....
Ed

Ok, here is waht I call the chord progression...
Intro is E-D-B-G#,
then E-D-B-G#-B-D-E-F#
Then E-D-B-G#
Then E-F#-B-G#

There is probably some glitches with this, as the bass I played sounded like shit. I'm not sure if it was just me, or wrong note playing.

Hey ms, I've got a tune here that might be in need of some ambient percussion or some other melodic wind instrument. I did finally get the bass part hammered out, but feel like maybe it needs just a little something more.

Wind? Really? Hmmm. I could see a cabasa in the background through the whole thing, that might give it some movement. One or two well-timed triangle hits, mebbe. Got to be sparing with stuff like that.

Got a link to the track with bass? I'll get right on that :)

Also if y'all want me to master the final products I'm down for that

many from one: I don't mean to dis you but I'm looking to lay down tracks that will be used :o

My good man, feel free to molest anything at my soundclick site.

I abused your stuff last time :p

Honestly with these two I think I'm fully booked, I'll check back in March :)

Here is the track in its present state: http://www.lightningmp3.com/live/file.php?fid=2820

I have contemplated replacing the electric guitar with a strummed nylon string, and the vocals will eventually be retracked.

I don't really know what I'm looking for. Maybe you could add a cello line, similar to the background vocal melody during the chorus. Whatever you think.

No big deal if you don't have any ideas for this. But, if you come up with something cool, I'll definitely use it.

OK I worked on percussion for this today. Was this recorded to a click? I was hoping to cover up my suckitude with some short loops, but I can't find the beat :( Almost makes me wish I used a real sequencer program :( :( :(

Anyway, I'll suck it up tomorrow and cut it live, even if I have to take it 15 seconds at a time

Yes, recorded to a click at 74 bpm. However, I've only been playing drums for a couple of months, so it's a little loose, I know. :o

Loose is good, I just need to suck less myself :o
