I have a 12 year old Firepod I want to upgrade. I am interested in the Focusrite Clarett 8pre but not sold on the Thunderbolt idea just yet; they seem few and far between. USB 2.0 would work fine seeing as how I'm coming off a Firewire 400 interface, adapted into my 2011 Mac Mini i7. I've seen a demo where the AIR option and just the overall roundness of the pres on the Clarett just smoke the Scarlett. I also know that a YouTube demo is not always accurate, so I'd like to hear if anyone else has bought a Clarett and or uses one regularly and can comment on how it is, and also if anyone can tell me if there is an actual, obvious difference between the pres on it and on my Firepod.
