I write alot of lyrics and now I wanna make music/beats to them and record em. whats a good program I should download to do this?!??

I use ableton live, but I'm pretty sure I'm the only one. It's pretty easy to learn, and easy to use (even live, hence the name). But you should probably listen to the vets on this one. I would download demo copies of reasons, ableton, fruity loops, and whatever else you can find. Try 'em out and then see which one you like best and buy it.

You need to watch what you say if you want to continue to learn knowledge in here. Majority of the people here do not like illegal cracked softwares like what your now using. I'll quote what BK said...

Just warning you, cause any other place will probably chew you up lol. ;)

Anyways, I use Nuendo 3 & Reasons 3 now to make beats, or if I want some regular sounding hits while I learn this digital crap, I pull out the SY77 & Roland.

I have to agree with Mindset on this. Any website you go to with professionals you are going to get some backlash.

It's better not to engage into moral/ethical battle on software or audio/video piracy of any kind.

Although I don't condone piracy... nevermind I already said to much.

Ahh shit. I thought I took that off before I got here. :p

I have bad feeling about this thread now... :D

Ummm I like using FL Studio for making my beat patterns. If you got a midi controller hook it up to the FPC plugin, but first you got to get some samples.

You have a couple of options here. Go rent some drum machine sample them or head over to the http://www.modarchive.org/index_1.php

It's been awhile since I've been there, but the are a few popular drum machines sampled and the author are giving them away for free, but there are some that wan't to know what you intend to do with the samples.

So it better to read the text files to come with the sample packs. So you are not pissing anybody off and do as they request.

btw

Did I already mention that I don't condone piracy? Go to ebay you can usually find someone selling a full old legit copy for some program for very little money. I picked up my Cubase VST/32 producer pack over a year ago for approx $75us.

This is a program not less than five year ago was worth $700-1000 brand new.

Also I bought FL Studio for $149 brand new. I believe you can record tracks with it now, but I prefer to work in cubase when it comes to recording lyrics or instruments live.
