this is for hiphop vocals..what do you think of this setup..im thinking of buying this:

1)Roland MMP-2 Preamp...around 200 dollors on ebay
2)wharfedale Pro Diamond 8.2 Active Studio Monitors 340 brand new
3)E-MU 1212M Digital Audio System 200 brand new
4)Sony 7506 headphones 100 dollors brand new
5)XLR cableing 25$

total: around $900

all on a 2.4 ghz P4, with 1024mb ram and rockin an AKG c3000b

is that a good setup?

Looks like a good start. I'd look at the M-audio Tampa which is not only a great pre but an awesome compressor. Do you have any mics?

I have no experience of that preamp but there would be others I'd be more likely to buy before it. Tampa would be one. The JoeMeek threeQ is a bargain because it has the same preamp as the far more expensive new Meeks, and has an interesting EQ and compressor that Sound on Sound reckoned could serve a purpose for making hip-hop vocals. I'd try that first.
