Well, after selling my MIC200 preamp, I just bought a brand new Studio Projects VTB-1 pre for $92 online. I heard this is a pretty good pre for the price, not the best obviously, but still good. Anyway, my question is will i need a transformer to connect this pre to my Audiophile 2496 soundcard? Also, can i get some more input about this pre?

No need for a transformer just get a rca to 1/4" cable.

Input about the pre, hehe, I like mine.

It's received a lot of good feedback; just do a search and you'll have reading material for days! ;)

SSR is correct, you do not need a transformer. Just get the proper connectors and plug it into the soundcard and that will do the conversion there....

If you want some detailed info on the mic amp, e-mail me at alan@pmiaudio.com or call us toll free at 877-563-6335 and ask for me....I will be happy to give you some tips.

I just bought a pair of 'em, and though I'm not going the PC DAW route I am going direct into DAW (Yamaha). I haven't spent a lot of time with my VTB1s yet, but I've quit using the channel strips in my Mackie VLZ already...
