VST PLUGINS MAKING DAW SLOW

JUST DOWNLOADED A 3RD PARTY PLUGIN AND ITS MAKING MY DAW SLOW. ITS THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENS. I THINK IM OVERWHELMING MY CPU BUT I WANT TO BE SURE. ANYONE?
 
It could well be that a plugin can slow things down. It could be poorly written, or very resource hungry. It might help to know a) the DAW involved b) the Plugin involved and c) the machine specs (especially the CPU and RAM memory) and d) other plugins being used. Maybe also how many tracks.

Many DAWs will allow you to look at the resources being used so you can troubleshoot issues like this.
