i am using a mackie as a preamp. i am using ythe roland as a (adat) pretty much. my mixdown onto my tape deck seems to lose sound quality. even if i record with just the roland. any ideas or recommendations on mixing down? also i cant get my zip drive to work and would i also be able to use the iomega cd burner?

Besides the fact that your going from 20-bit digital to analog tape, it could be that your levels are not as 'hot' as they could be.

Try to level as close to 0db as possible, without going over. (Clipping will occur, and digital clipping is UGLY!)
