Sounds good for a practice rehearsal (isn't that redundant?)

Very nice vocals on this! Good drumming. Sounded well recorded for just setting up and going for it.

Cool tune dudes.:cool: You've got that snare cracking eh Vox?:) Sounds good just to be a thrown together thing to get the idea recorded....I can hear this in my head as being a slick rockin tune with your recording/mixing wizardry applied to it..layered vocals and guitars.......oh yeah,it'll sound sweet if it ever makes it that far in your process.

nice live feel...especially for a live song. Great drumming and, well I cant single out anything because you are all really good. And anytime a guitarist can solo with just drums and bass and no rhythm guitar, you know he's gotta be good!!! Havent heard much of that since 1989. KICK AZZ!!!
 
hey vox, chris, you prick bastards, and dave too, even though I don't know him, he he he he, you guys are rocking. get Roel to play sax and ya'll will be ready. sounds great, like maybe you been praticing more than you have. vox, as soon as you get your shit together, get a recording of the band and pass it on. nice guitar chris, bass sounds great, and them damn drums, six months my ass, it sounds you been playing for at least 8 months. he he he he he he

Nope... 3 practices, and about 2-3 hours each practice....

We've gone through Cook Like you, only about 12-15 times.... Totally


Back in my other band, after 200 run-throughs, STILL no one would have a clue as to who is supposed to be doing what...


This band has so much discipline and professionalism... No drinking or smoking weed or shooting the shit.... When we get down to it, we work.

But, don't get me wrong we still have fun and joke around, it's not all seriousness.... Just the right amount....;)

Thanks King Elvis!! I consider myself a guitarist first, and a singer second. I started playing in the early '80's - a period that I like to call the "golden age of guitar." From then, until as you say, about 1989, EVERYONE was a good player. If you weren't, in most cases, you just didn't make it. You had George Lynch (Dokken), Warren DiMartini (Ratt), Yngwie, Eddie Van Halen, Vernon Reid (Living Colour), Angus was still very active, Tipton/Downing (Priest), Steve Vai, Metallica, Maiden.... the list goes on. Then grunge came.... there were still some very good players (STP, Alice in Chains, etc.) but it was so uncool to be good, that these players really didn't show their chops until they were rather well established. I find it encouraging to see a bit of a return to musicianship these days....

For those who commented favourably on the vocals.... I really have to thank you for that. A few years ago, I was a pretty brutal singer. I'm learning the Bel Canto technique now, and my voice has improved dramatically, though I'm still self-conscious about my voice. I'm to the point now, where if I have something rehearsed, and if I can hear myself well, then I can do a good job. For those who were at the JamFest, you'll know that if I haven't rehearsed something, then it's a bit of a different story.... (the two songs I sing on the Jamfest CD were ones that I knew fairly okay, but hadn't really done in a while.... the ones that didn't make it to the CD - the vocals may be WHY they didn't make it!!) So those positive comments really go a long way toward my confidence in doing the job. Thanks!! :D :D

I am liking the energy of this piece. Its coming at me hard from the speakers.

The beef I have with this tune is that its not catchy at all. It could pass for a good album filler though.

Vox, please tell me that you tracked with only the mackie on this piece.

The overhead for the drums is thru my Davisound, but the rest is just the mackie...

Remember it is just an archive, it was not suppose to be a studio recording....

Thanks for the thumbs up from everyone... Cool like you would not have been my first choice of Chris's material... as it seems very cliche'ique compared to other stuff I have had the privladge of listening to watch for Crazy Dream..

I'm more into the new stuff.. Dave Mathews, Blink 182, Papa Roach, Alien Ant Farm, Eve 6, Stained,

I like the Idea the one fellow had,, with a more of a back beat in certain areas..

But that's why we are the band, we hold the authorty the change whatever we want...

I have palyed in a few original acts as both rythmn and lead guitarist, but found a deeper respect for the "Groove" with the bass..

Like Chris said,, unless you were as good as Steve Vai.. forget it..

although, I can't say I was a bad guitarist,, I had a knack for picking up the groove of a song,, and the undergroove

When I discovered the "BASS" I transfered that skill over the course of 2 and a half years, and am a proud owner a nathan East 5 string.

No Sense in trying to compete with bands like Creed, and Default if you can't snag that earth shattering growl.

(PS to those engineers who say I just mud up thier tracks :P if the tracks are muddy then you don't have a clean lock on my bass, and not enough head room)

I also wanted to point out, that some years back I took a crash course in theory from Chris, who holds a degree in music, and would like the thank him for the tools to understanding "the Riff"

Joe Is a great guy.. A little odd humored.. so he fit's in nicely...
Chris, is.... Chris... Mild mannered school teacher by day, and ROCKSTAR by night.. Then there's just ... "Dave" or as my neighbour puts it, "Shaggy"

So here I'm gonna leave you with a little tase of some original stuff I wrote, I'm not much of a singer.. So there are no vocals..
this is what I cal in the pocket.. and a ver Dave mathews feel to it..

I just hung a sm57 knockoff (not the real thing) in front of Chis's Cabinet... Out of stands so we just dangled it...

No layering, all live off the floor about 4th take...

No overdubs...
