First off, LOVE the tune. It does have a kind of Kiss flavor to it.:D
Good balanced on the instruments and all but it is kind of scooped and maybe to much top on the guitar. The cymbals I thought were perfect. Nice splash to them. Now at the end you gotta edit the amp buzz out dude.:D Joe, Chris, great job over all.

First of all... I'm ... this was Chris singing? Sounded like Joe.

Sounds very "disco smile EQ"... hats sound grainy (on this setup, anyway)... strange since the other cymbals sound great... kick & bass both need definition...

Overall, this seems to need the VOXVENDOR production to it (multiple reverbs, overdubs, FX, thousands of backup vocals  )

Good song; a little too friendly sounding for my taste, but good.

BTW--"Your Life Story" is one helluva song, Joe. That belongs on every HR.com'er's hard drive, if not on the radio

Thanks alot Participant... Much appreciated.... Yeah, thats Chris singing..........On this song, we were originally going to do the "Vox production" thing with drum machines and other fancies, but I think it was at my prodding, that we ended up going raw...

For a change I wanted to produce something rawish, that sounds close to the way it will sound when played live..

You'll still hear the Vox stuff, coming from me on my solo tunes, but for this project, it seems that Chris and I are sticking to the roots.....

It's definately a switch......

I went back to the studio today and burned the cd, and the bass is not defined enough... (I think we have to axe the room mic track on the bass)....

I'm not sure about the lyric comments.. I can hear everything pretty clearly...
But, then and again, I know the words...:D

The guitars are basically the headophone mix that we had for tracking.... I think that night when we stayed up late, our ears were burned and we thought they sounded good at the time...

After listening to the song extensively today.... I am pretty much of the same school of thought as everyone else.....

Thats why I love this place.... You guys pointed out alot of stuff..

As for the grainy HH... Good ear!......I heard that too... I think it was an MP3 Artifact, cause it doesn't sound like that on my 16 bit cd, I have in my car...

Keep the thoughts coming guys.. Much appreciated.. In a week or so, we should have a final (or close to it) mix to post.

Thats the 603's (Well a bit of them and mostly the drummers awesome technique of hitting the cymbals just right to create that sound)...:D:D:D:rolleyes:...

But Seriously, Really liking them (Those 603's)!!!!!!

Cheeeeeze City...but when I was done listening I wanted to be cool like you guys.Excellent job.Vox a little muffled sometimes.Top notch musicianship...

hey Chris and Vox, great stuff. I agree with vocal coments, but it sounds like I'm at the local clubs here at home. The overall sound is very good. All ya'll need is a "uke" player. he he he he he he he

Good tunz!

"Actually, this is an MP3 mixing clinic... not a "what's your taste in music" forum. You liking or disliking the song is irrelevant. We're here to help with mixing/performance suggestions, not to tell people whether we approve of their songwriting or not... oddly enough, there's a songwriting forum for that. "

Good Call, My Bad.
But I still didnt like the song.

darn tootin thats good.. That tune would be really good live too. I can tell yall worked hard puttin those sections together, so,me really ideas and real tight too. I like listening to guitar pickers blowing it out..

Thanks a lot folks, for the suggestions and encouragement!! We're getting together early this week to do some tweaking, and we'll re-post it when it's done.

Cheers! :D
