I new to this site i kind of stumbled upon it surfing the web. I've been browsing and reading post and you guys seem pretty knowledgable. I produce pretty much hip hip and r&b. And my question is how can i achieve maximum clarity in my vocals before i send it to get mastered professionally.

I have a rode nt1-a mic, lexicon omega soundcard, and i record thru cep 2.0
my instrumentals are fine. I use mo phatt, triton , mpc 1000 and Fl Studio 4.
But i cant seem to get that industry level clarity that i want. I know i wont be able to achieve that level with my current set up. But im pretty sure i can get atleast 80% if not 90% of it. Im just lookin for some tips on levels, compression, limiting or any mastering tips. Im lookin to get a bach in recording engineerin in about 2 yrs but im jus trying to get the basics down now. Any suggestions would be most appreciated thanks

actually you can but the first thing you have to do is get the best vocal recording that your artist can do and then you have to learn your eq's but it will never sound like you hear on pro cd's until you get it mastered but make sure you get as close as you can to what you think sounds best compared to those
