I know the CC1s aren't "real" ac15s but . . . .

I just picked one up, used, shipped for $410. I'm pretty stoked. My first tube amp. Anyway, thanks for all of the info guys and for putting up my with my n00bness.

Hey, Nate -

I demo'd an AC15CC1 the night I bought my Ac30CC2X.

Don't kid yourself, it's a kickass amp and a real Vox by any measure, regardless of its country of manufacture.

Good pick, good score, enjoy! :)

I think I said that because some here a while agao was saying "that's not an ac15, it's a reissue and a tottally different amp." I just didn't feel like hearing so I said it. Thanks for the kind words. I'm stoked to get it.

Congrats !

I have one with the Celestion Blue speaker, I really like it. I think its designed as more of an "AC30CC Junior" and is not intended to be like the 15's of old...whatever. IMO it has a nice Vox vibe to it, and for what they go for used, its a great bang for the buck. Its pretty well made, the only weak point I see is the plastic input jack (keep checking it to see if the nut is loose), I do intend to replace it with a metal Switchcraft jack one of these days.

There have been so many variants of AC30s over the years, it's pretty ridiculous to claim any particular one as the benchmark.

Today's AC30s and AC15s are just newer members of the clan. They sound great.

Congrats man!

That's a great little amp, I know you're gonna love it.

:)

I just got it in today!!!! I only had a few minutes to play through it before work . . . . but it was definately amazing!!! I didn't get to peg both the master and pre but it definately has some balls. It really is a great little amp. Just thought you all should know it does rock.

a related question.

does anyone know if this would work with the AC15?

Not sure.

My AC30 came with one that looked a little different - silver and round-ey.

You might want to check out voxampsusa - I think that site has all the amps listed as well as their compatible accessoriesw.

I'm glad you're liking the amp, Nate - have fun! :)

It does = teh win.

However, I am having a problem. At higher volumes I get a bad static. I've disconnected the speaker, tightened the plug, and recconnected it. But it only helps temporarily. Anyone know what might be causing this?

I can think of a couple of things that might not be amp-related:

-- Old instrument cable, picking up stray signals or making noise every time you move it
-- Bad contact at input jack (these new Voxes are notorious for their jacks building up oxidization) - try a little contact cleaner on your cable's jack, and insert /remove a few times
-- Poorly shielded pickup(s) in the guitar
-- Static buildup on the guitar itself - can you make it make static by moving your finger around on the pickguard?

Or it might be time for new tubes.

Those were some theories of mine too. Ok. Thanks for the info. I'll also try the pickgaurd thing. I'm hoping it's not time for new tubes. I'm pretty out of cash at the moment.

Thanks for all the info.

Nate, if the static is coming from your guitar, you can use anti-stat fabric sheets (the ones you stick in your clothes dryer) on the pickguard to remove static electricity. I have this problem big-time on my Melody Maker, and to a certain extent on my other guitars as well.
