Wondering if you can suggest to me a program, freeware or trial, that I can use to set all the volume or output levels the same of a compilation of mp3's on my ipod. The software would need to be for a Mac. I hope this falls into the mastering title.
Thanks

Yeah, but I think it's a mastering engineer that you're after, not just a program.

Or, you could limit, compress, limit, compress, maybe multiband compress the whole lot so it sounds like the radio. If that's what you're after.

Have you taken a look at Garageband yet ? A buddy of mine demo'd it for me and it could do the job.

If you simply want to set volume levels you should be able to set the tracks of the CD project up on individual tracks, mute them all, unmute one at a time and set the individual volume, mute that track and go on to the next, etc. for all tracks of the project. I don't know if Garageband allows 24bit - you may want something that allows 24bit native wave files - or at least has 24/32bit float internal busses so when you do fade in/out it sounds smooth.

Actually if you already have tunes 'mastered' for the mp3 medium then maybe all you need is ITunes which has a feature called 'Soundcheck' that provides consistent playback volume...

Most automatic volume 'normalizers' work to varying degrees of sucess but if you already have ITunes you might want to give that a shot...
