Let's have it people....I'm still in need of lots of artwork. Post it right here if you want.

This might be stupid but ...

What if you got a picture of each contributor to the CD and created a collage (sp) type thing for the cover.

Just a thought.

My wife is actually working on a VERY cool idea using postage stamps from Volume 1 submissions....she'd like to throw it into the mix once she's done.

The collage idea is ok...but kinda overdone...if somebody wanted to do it, it would be cool...though you might want to get permission from people to use thier picture.

Or you could use a collage of all the Avatars from the people who are on the CD... :p

:D

Mine would be the coolest, of course. :p

I don't see how that's possible... with that dildo up your @ss.

:D

Here's what my wife came up with....the stamps are actual stamps from Volume One....I think this is really fucking cool!!

Very cool!

The HR.com logo is still ugly as shit, though. Could you make it into a stamp, or a stamp-mark?

That is pretty fuggin' cool!

The only thing that could be added to make it complete would be a photo of your daughter's boyfriend fondling your man boobies, but hey, you can't have everything!

Your wifey did a fine job!

Brad

Reg, I think the logo is a bit ugly myself...but it is the logo! I thought she did put it in there to make it look like a stamp...do you mean to give it a jagged edge or something?

Brad, I called child services about your suggestion and they said it wouldn't be a smart move :(

I would also suggest doing something a tad different with the "p" on the dot comp part - you know, like how you did it slightly different on Vol. I - so the HomeRecording.com part is unto itself and we added the pee. I mean "p."

Maybe same font, different color?

I dunno, it looks fine the way it is, I just thought that touch was very clever with Vol. I.

...

i really like slacks wife composition
its well thoguht out
and seems to "fit" with the ideal of the home recordning comp.

Gotta agree with Brad. Doing something different with the "p" is a good idea. My only other suggestion is to put some different text in the UPC symbol, since we already know it's "homerecording.comp".

In the above case, it feels like the p, if done differently, should be handwritten, with a ballpoint, or something.

Yeah, exactly. Probably you have to scan a real stamp, and use that edge. :) Also, it's see-through now, so it looks a bit strange. But I think it would work great as a stamp. It is stamp-shaped! :)

This is exactly what I did to create a stamp edge on an album cover I designed about 5 years ago. It turned out pretty good.
To see it, go to my site, click on "Graphic Design" and then "Someplace South of Here Album Cover".

Somewhere south of here is good but the Iron Rod one is awesome. I've been wanting to do my own CD covers, but only have Surething CD software. What is a good inexpensive program to start with? I don't expect to get something like Iron Rod or the other one, but I would like to get something that people will not look at it and say "you did this yourself didn't you".

Thanks! The Iron Rod picture had elements of that were done in Adobe Illustrator and other programs, but the final was picture was put together in Adobe Photoshop. Then once you have saved it as a .tif file, you can import that picture into Quark or Illustrator to create the actual tray insert or booklet. Any program that can save as a .tif file would be a good starting place.
Right now I'm working on the cover for my new CD and I'm really excited about it. The name of the CD is "Bad Luck... Good Story" and the cover will have three tarot cards that signify bad luck and good luck. It's gonna be so cool!!! (I hope.)
I'd love to do one for the comp CD, but I have so little time....
Besides, I really like the one above. It's kind of gritty and really fits the bill.
BTW--- If you look closely at the thunder clouds on the Iron Rod cover, you can see a hidden dragon head. Kind of hard to make out on the computer screen, but it's there. The band that hired me insisted on it...
