Voice acting

This is probably the wrong forum for this, but if anyone can help that would be great.
I have a friend who has a great voice, how would he go about getting into voice acting? Commercials, audio books, radio etc. would be perfect for him but I would imagine that it's not easy to get started.
I could record a demo for him, but I need to know what material to record. Does anyone know about this at all?

I used to do voice overs a long time ago before I joined the army and will probably do it some again when I get out. You basically go about it like you would pursue acting..Headshot, Agent, and Get a demo tape made. For mine, I recorded three different passages with contrasting styles. Make sure it is accepted literature and that most people would be familiar with it. I did Poe's the raven, casey jones and I think a passage from King Lear. It is a very competitive field. It is about half talent and half who you know unfortunately. I had to wait a year or so before I got my first gig, and I have a really unique low bass voice. Perseverance, discipline and practice. I also saw a voice coach regularly. Singing is my first love and my real talent, but voice overs paid the bills for a while.

All his life people have commented on his voice, and just now he is realizing that he might be able to make some money with it. He has no singing experience, and no acting experience except in high school (not sure of his age, 40s?). He really just wants to get out of working night shifts for minimum wage, but wants to explore his natural talent.
 
I'd also recommend taking any kind of acting and/or improvisation classes that he can. Having a great instrument is one thing, but you've also gotta be able to play it convincingly, and a great voice only goes so far without the chops to back it up.
