vocorder?

im learning how to use adobe audition and today i noticed in the multi track view an effect called a vocorder, what exactly does this do?

are you sure it's spelled Vocorder?
Maybe it's Vocoder. It's an old effect that was applied to synthesizers that would synthesize speech. You could play a note on the synth and then speak into a microphone which would act as an oscillator and modulate the synth note you were pressing. You can make some cool effects with it.
You're plugin is probably just a software version of this. You could add it to a track probably and key it with another signal is my guess. I've never really played around with plugin vocoders before though.
