fishkarma,,,,thanks for that :)

the jist is,,,i'm doing this cd for a guy who plays acoustic and sings solo,

he wants it as realistic as possible so he can use it as a demo,,but two tracks out of the ten are needing drums

drums and acoustic and vocals sounded so empty,,,so we have added a gentle high piano melody and a slow plucked theme on midrage guitar (just in hte verses) and a basic acoustic guitar meoldy more or less throughout,

this is killin me,,,,anyone know where i can just upload this??

thanks again josh,,hope that infos useful.

Also on the piano a bit of verb can really fill out a track for the guitar melody i would have to hear it on songs thats really easy going a midrangy guita with delay and shit loads of over drive can actually sound good (believe it or not just listen to fear by Black Label Society- your taste or not tell me its not a laid back track using a guitar melody with loads of od its even done over a piano no drums) but then again if the songs too up beat the melody can sound great clean or god forbid with a touch of chorus
so i'd have to hear it im afraid
Good luck
-josh

ok josh,,,1st up,,i'm really glad you're here!lol,,

2nd,,,,im renderin down at attempt now to let you hear the score,,,

its gona be on myspace pretty soon,,,,ill link u asap

Turn the rest of the mix down!!
If you cant hear your vocals and they are peaking then its obvious that you need to turn the rest of the mix down.
What is the RMS of your mix without the vocals? If its anything above -18dB then the mix is too loud!

Eck

Gotta say your mannos quite good at writing songs!

on the song front i reckon the drums really need to be crisped up a bit especially the cymbals (hats mainly)
i think thats the acoustic sounds kinda dead, needs some sparkle to it how are you recording the acoustic, compressed or not? what eq boost/cut or none?

are you sure the clippings not due to myspace compressing the crap outta it? internet audio as movies ususlly distorts i dare you to find a decent youtube recording!!! :D

really man sign up to soundclick it dosnt take long its free and it wont have anything done to the track if it fits on the space provided ie quality dosnt get crippled

hi again,

its not peaking for real,,,that must just be myspace,,,i havent actually previewed the upload msyelf,so i didnt realise,, but i will try soundclip, thanks!

as for the guitar,,i'm not compressing it and the only eq i applied was a slight cut off the low end.

Re- Cant you hear the clipping(especially at the end "yeah yeah yeah" part? you can tell its been recorded fine but theres definatly the "youtube" sound to it but i'll admit its a lot higher quality than most internet video!!!

(also if its sound click not clip, thought it might make it easier to find if need be! ;) )

also can the guitar be recorded again? if so experement with placement it really is the most important thing and could explain why you got good sound on other recordings with the same equipment! heres a link to some help with placement from sos as theres quite a lot to all this (if in doubt search sos)
